Post Human : Survival Horror - Bring Me The Horizon (2020)

Created during Covid, this is a a welcoming come-back to a heavier genre after amo (2018). Writing this now I see that this EP eased us into the more electronic-sounding Post human : NexT Gen, their last album.
Even then, I didn’t think it was as bad as people made it out to be. When a band exists for 10+ years, they SHOULD try out different genres.
This album also shows way more of Oli’s bad mental health, and I honestly think that’s good because it shows that he accepts it more. Those themes also really resonated with me and that’s how I stuck to the band.
I first got kinda scared of the band’s views on vaccines (see Parasite Eve’s lyrics), but knowing now that Oli Sykes is big against Israel I’m a bit more relaxed about that.
I absolutely adore the collab with Yungblud. At the time I was going through my first psychiatric hospital stay, and that guy helped a lot. So the mix between him and BMTH, the energy of them both, it was electric, violent, perfect for the time.
Of course, I have to talk about KINGSLAYER. The collab with BABYMETAL is absolutely perfect : the mix of japanese and english, the jungle mixed with sentences of Oli and BABYMETAL, it’s all gorgeous. I’ve loved this song for years and for good reasons, it’s perfectly made.
Ludens is AMAZING as well, even without knowing that it was made for a video game. I think Oli’s voice is pretty good for dark, lyric-guided songs, and this one absolutely hits. I’m a big fan of bass and so this one hits all the marks for me. What else to add ? The lyrics are very good too, reflecting on both the game but honestly our reality as well.
